The Museum of the First Corps of Cadets is looking for passionate, independent, social individuals with a love for history to intern alongside our Curator in our museum collections! Under the direct supervision of our Curator, interns will digitize, scan, and photograph artifacts, archival materials, and collection records with data entered into the PastPerfect system. Interns will learn to create condition reports and assist with long- and short-term artifact storage as well as research information pertaining to donors, historical events, and artifact records. Interns will also contribute to the Museum’s blog and social media presence by providing an “Artifact of the Month” post highlighting an artifact from the collection. Interns will also assist the Curator directly with various administrative tasks as well as providing museum tours upon request. This position is open to current undergraduate or graduate students as well as recent graduates. Applicants should have a strong interest in military history and museums as well as possess developed research skills, familiarity with modern museum practices, and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. PastPerfect Database knowledge and experience is preferred but not required. The Museum is conveniently accessible by public transportation; however parking is not available on site. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for 2 references by email to Curator@VAFCC.org with the subject line ATTN: Collections Intern.
